Greenlight Networks Connects with the Greece Community at Taste of the Town

On Sunday, August 23, the Town of Greece came together for the Taste of the Town Community Festival, a free afternoon celebrating local businesses, food, community organizations, and the people who make the Greece community special. Hosted at the Greece Town Hall Pavilion from 1 to 6 p.m., the event brought together local restaurants, food trucks, businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, and family-friendly activities.

Greenlight Networks was proud to sponsor the event and have a physical presence alongside the many businesses and organizations participating throughout the afternoon.

For Greenlight, events like Taste of the Town are about more than showing up with a booth. They provide an opportunity to meet the people who live in the communities we serve, listen to what matters to them, and have real conversations about the future of their neighborhoods.

How Did Greenlight Networks Connect with the Greece Community?

Throughout the event, the Greenlight team had the opportunity to speak directly with residents about fiber internet service and the ongoing expansion of the Greenlight network throughout the Greece area.

One of the biggest takeaways from the day was how interested residents were in Greenlight’s construction activity. As more neighborhoods see fiber construction underway, conversations naturally turned toward questions about availability, timelines, and when individual streets and homes may be connected.

Our team also spoke with residents in areas that appear to be outside the current construction footprint. Those conversations were especially valuable because they gave us the opportunity to hear directly from people who are interested in Greenlight service but may not yet have access to it.

As one Greenlight team member put it, “There was a lot of talk about Greenlight with the uptake in construction,” adding that they had conversations with many people in areas that appeared to be cut out of the current build.

Those conversations are an important part of being an active member of the communities we serve.

What Businesses and Vendors Were Featured at Taste of the Town?

Taste of the Town showcased the breadth of businesses and organizations that contribute to the Greece community.

The festival included local restaurants, food vendors, food trucks, nonprofits, service organizations, community resources, and businesses showcasing their products and services. The event was organized into several areas, including a Community Village, Local Business Village, Taste of the Town Village, and a Family Activities and Entertainment Village.

The variety was one of the highlights of the event. Greenlight’s booth was positioned among businesses representing very different industries, including a physical therapy clinic and a local entrepreneur offering specialty juices.

That mix made the event feel less like a traditional food festival and more like a snapshot of the local business community.

Residents could grab something to eat, discover a new local business, learn about community resources, and talk directly with the people behind the products and services available in their own backyard.

What Did the Weather Mean for the Taste of the Town Event?

The weather ultimately became one of the more memorable parts of the afternoon.

While the event was scheduled to run until 6 p.m., strong winds and rain moved through the area before the scheduled end time. Awnings were sent flying, and the weather eventually forced the event to wrap up approximately two hours early.

Despite the shortened afternoon, there was plenty of energy and interaction before the weather moved in.

For the Greenlight team, the conversations that happened before the rain were the most important part. The event created an opportunity to meet residents face-to-face, answer questions, and better understand what people are experiencing as fiber construction continues across the community.

Why Does Greenlight Networks Participate in Local Community Events?

Greenlight Networks is committed to more than building a fiber-optic network. We want to be part of the communities where our network is growing.

Community events such as Taste of the Town give our team an opportunity to step away from the construction map and meet the people behind the addresses.

For residents, that can mean getting answers to questions about service and construction. For Greenlight, it means hearing directly from customers and prospective customers about their experiences, expectations, and interest in fiber internet.

Those conversations are especially meaningful as Greenlight continues expanding its network in the Rochester region.

What Did Greenlight Take Away from Taste of the Town?

The biggest takeaway was simple: people want to talk about their internet service and the future of connectivity in their neighborhoods.

From residents excited to see Greenlight construction progressing to people wondering when service might reach their street, the conversations at Taste of the Town reinforced the importance of being present and accessible.

And while the weather may have shortened the event, it didn’t diminish the value of the conversations that took place.

Greenlight Networks is grateful to the Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Greece, the participating businesses and vendors, and everyone who stopped by our booth.

We were proud to sponsor Taste of the Town and even prouder to be part of a community that continues to support local businesses, organizations, and neighbors.
