Get to Know Greenlight: A Night of Trivia, Pizza, and Community at Salvatore’s

Greenlight Networks brought fiber internet and a little friendly competition to Salvatore’s Pizzeria for a Get to Know Greenlight community event designed to introduce local residents to Greenlight in a fun, casual setting.

Hosted at Salvatore’s Pizza in Rochester, on August 19th, the event combined trivia with an opportunity to learn more about Greenlight Networks, our fiber internet service, and the company’s presence in the Rochester area.

Rather than a traditional presentation, attendees got to know Greenlight through a night of trivia, conversation, pizza, and plenty of friendly competition.

The evening featured five rounds of trivia, with eight questions in each round, for a total of 40 questions.

Between rounds two and three and again between rounds four and five, participants took breaks while answers were collected and graded. The entire trivia experience generally took about an hour, creating a format that was easy to fit into a typical evening out.

The trivia gave Greenlight a natural way to introduce the company without turning the event into a sales presentation.

Before the questions got underway, the Greenlight team provided an introduction to the company and briefly explained what Greenlight Networks does. Throughout the evening, attendees also had opportunities to ask questions about Greenlight’s service.

The result was an experience that put the community first while still giving people a chance to learn about their local fiber internet provider.

What Did Attendees Learn About Greenlight Networks?

The Get to Know Greenlight event provided an opportunity to introduce attendees to the company behind the fiber network being built throughout the Rochester area.

The introduction gave attendees some background on Greenlight Networks, while conversations throughout the evening allowed the team to answer questions about our service.

Because the event was centered around trivia, the Greenlight team was able to connect with attendees in a way that felt informal and approachable. Instead of simply talking about internet service, Greenlight became part of an enjoyable night out at a local Rochester business.

Why Use Trivia to Introduce Greenlight Networks?

Trivia created an engaging way for Greenlight to connect with the community.

A traditional information session can put people in a mindset of listening to a presentation. A trivia night is different. People come to have fun, spend time with friends, and compete with other teams.

That environment helped create goodwill around the Greenlight brand while giving attendees a chance to interact with the company in a relaxed setting.

As one Greenlight team member shared, the event “brought out a lot of good will and fun.”

That positive atmosphere is an important part of what makes community events successful. Not every interaction needs to begin with a sales conversation. Sometimes, building familiarity starts with simply showing up, having fun, and becoming part of the local community.

What Was the Greenlight Team's Experience at the Event?

The evening also demonstrated the importance of having enough event staff to balance programming with one-on-one conversations.

Because of a staff cancellation, the Greenlight team member on-site spent much of the evening running the trivia. That meant there was less opportunity to have extended conversations with potential customers.

Even so, the event provided valuable opportunities to briefly answer questions about Greenlight’s service and explain more about the company during the introduction to the trivia.

The experience also provided a useful model for future Get to Know Greenlight events. Having a repeatable trivia format means Greenlight can bring the concept to other local businesses and create a consistent experience for their customers.

How Can Greenlight Bring the Get to Know Greenlight Event to Other Local Businesses?

One of the benefits of the Salvatore’s event was that it helped demonstrate how the Get to Know Greenlight concept can work inside a local restaurant or bar.

The format is relatively simple: introduce Greenlight, run five rounds of eight questions, build in grading breaks, and wrap up in approximately an hour.

Photos from the event can also help show other local business owners what a Get to Know Greenlight night can look like in practice.

That creates an opportunity to bring the concept to businesses in other areas where Greenlight is expanding, giving local establishments a way to offer an entertaining event while helping their customers get to know the fiber provider serving their community.

What Did Greenlight Take Away From the Salvatore's Event?

The Get to Know Greenlight event at Salvatore’s showed that community engagement doesn’t always have to look like a traditional outreach event.

With 40 trivia questions, five rounds, and about an hour of gameplay, Greenlight was able to create an evening centered on fun while still introducing attendees to the company and providing opportunities to answer questions about fiber internet service.

The event also provided a blueprint for future trivia nights at local bars, restaurants, and other community gathering places. Most importantly, the evening created goodwill and gave Greenlight another opportunity to be present in the Rochester community.
