Greenlight Service Now Accessible to 2,900 Households in Greece; Construction Starting Soon to 3,400 Additional Households

Greece, NY- October 2, 2019 – Greenlight Networks, the fastest fiber-to-the-home provider in New York State, and the Town of Greece today announced that nearly 2,900 Greece residents now have access to Greenlight’s fiber-to-the-home high-speed Internet service. Greenlight has completed construction and is actively installing service in the Janes/Kirk (phase 1), Dorsey and Hampton/Latta Greenlight Districts.

Greenlight also announced that is starting construction to expand its high-speed fiber-optic network to 3,400 additional households in parts of Greece. Construction is already underway in the Greenlight Districts of Janes/Kirk Phase 2 and Stone Ridge and the company plans to start construction in Ridgemont East and Barnard North in the coming months.

Greece Town Supervisor William D. Reilich said, “I am excited to join Greenlight Networks in announcing that services are now accessible to 2,900 households in the Town of Greece! We are excited for our neighbors who are in the installation phases and for the 3,400 additional households where construction will soon begin. If you live in an area that has not yet received Greenlight service, be sure to register and tell your neighbors to register on the Greenlight website (greenlightnetworks.com). Greenlight bases its next service location on the area with the highest indicated interest, so be sure to tell all your neighbors to register their interest. We are happy to provide the Greenlight service option to our residents.”

Greece resident Jason Klotz lives in the Hampton/Latta Greenlight District. “We had tried all the available Internet service providers in the area; service was always spotty, and speeds were a fraction of the “up to” speeds promised. This hampered my family’s ability to access entertainment and learning services since we live in a digital age where everything requires the Internet,” explained Klotz. “Since being installed with Greenlight we have been receiving impeccable speeds of 500 Mbps. No more lag, delays or access issues and we stream 100 percent of our entertainment. Greenlight has made a major improvement in the quality of life for our family. We are getting significantly more than ever before for less money.”

Added Klotz, “I appreciate Bill Reilich and the Town’s efforts in helping expedite bringing Greenlight service to Greece. They’ve not only added value to our lifestyle but elevated community property values as a result.”

Greenlight Networks President and CEO Mark Murphy, “The Klotz family of Greece is part of a growing trend as millions of cable and satellite subscribers have ‘cut the cord’ and switched to video streaming. We’ve devoted a new section of our website to cord cutting information and resources. This trend is clearly contributing to the demand we are seeing for our fiber Internet service, which is the fastest available residential service in Rochester. We’re excited to have our amazingly fast Internet service up and running in parts of Greece and are actively installing customers in many neighborhoods today.”

Building Greenlight’s fiber network involves significant design, planning and construction work to lay hundreds of miles of new fiber-optic cable, which supports much higher data transmission speeds than traditional networks. Greenlight worked with several departments within the Town of Greece during the construction process to help facilitate its fiber network expansion.

“We’ve made important improvements and progress in our ability to build our fiber optic network underground which we are doing in parts of Greece. We’ve brought in more contractors and implemented new and more efficient methods to get to additional neighborhoods more quickly. Fiber optic networking is amazing technology and although the construction process is extremely arduous, we are working hard to connect more and more homes directly to our fiber network every day,” explained Murphy. “We appreciate the efforts of Supervisor Reilich and the many members of the Town of Greece who continue to assist us through the permitting and construction process.”
