Greenlight Networks Begins Construction in Village of Lancaster and City of North Tonawanda, With Plans to Nearly Double Western New York’s Accessibility to its Fiber Internet Service by 2025

BUFFALO. N.Y. (December 18, 2023) – Today marks a significant milestone for Western New York’s broadband evolution as Greenlight Networks (“Greenlight”), the leading fiber-to-the-home provider in New York State, officially begins construction in two key communities in the region, bringing its sought-after fiber optic Internet network into the Village of Lancaster and the City of North Tonawanda.

Village of Lancaster

Greenlight Networks is investing more than $2.5 million dollars on network and infrastructure buildouts to expand into the Village of Lancaster. Construction in that community began today and will continue in phases over the next few months, aiming to connect more than 2,500 homes to Greenlight’s multi-gigabit internet services in 2024. Greenlight is partnering with the Twin District Volunteer Fire Company at 4999 William Street in Lancaster to host its network equipment in exchange for complimentary high-speed fiber broadband service.

North Tonawanda

Construction also got underway today in North Tonawanda. Greenlight Networks previously announced this $12.5 million expansion and is on track to bringing fiber connectivity to more than 13,400 households in the city by the end of 2024. The Gratwick Hose Company Inc. is hosting Greenlight’s network equipment in exchange for complimentary high-speed fiber broadband service at Station #6 on 110 Ward Road.

“Right now, there are more than 21,000 homes in the Buffalo Niagara region connected to Greenlight Networks, and with these two construction projects now underway, we’re on track to more than double the number of homes who have access to our network by 2025,” said Greenlight Networks CEO Mark Murphy. “Residents will start to see Greenlight Networks trucks in their neighborhood, which is a sign that things are progressing, and fiber connectivity is coming, and that’s been a wonderful thing for our communities here in Western New York and across the state.”

Greenlight Networks currently services East and West Buffalo, as well as Cheektowaga. Greenlight is also collaborating with local utility companies to gain access to the utility poles, which will further increase the number of homes and communities that gain access.

Residents can visit Greenlight’s Buffalo Region Neighborhood Page to learn more about Greenlight’s progress in their neighborhood, sign-up to express interest and gain access to construction updates. Once construction is completed, customers that pre-ordered services will be notified to schedule in home installation by a Greenlight Networks’ fiber technician.
