Another city with Greenlight? Unrelated to the one in Wilson, Rochester’s local ISP, Greenlight Networks, also offers 1 gigabit per second speeds for $100 per month (construction/installation fee waived with two-month commitment). The company says in its FAQ that it used the Google playbook by deploying fiber, probably using existing dark fiber optic lines, but also only deploying its “Greenlight Districts” to neighborhoods where a significant number of people have pre-signed to get the service. Right now, the build-out is complete in the suburbs of Pittsford, Brighton, Irondequoit, and Rochester.
