ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (MARCH 19, 2024) – Greenlight Networks, the leading fiber-to-the-home provider in New York State, announced today an investment of over $6.5 million to offer its sought-after fiber network to residents of the Town of Rotterdam. This network expansion will give the company the ability to connect more than 6,700 homes to Greenlight’s high-speed network by as early as summer 2024.

We’ve heard Rotterdam residents loud and clear – they’re ready for us. With construction beginning, Greenlight anticipates service availability for the first 2,700 homes this summer. The first neighborhoods slated for service include Carman Park, Crestwood, Careleon and Greenpoint. Additional neighborhoods will be added to construction planning later this year.

To support the expansion’s infrastructure, Greenlight has partnered with the Rotterdam Fire District 2 on Curry Road to host its network equipment in exchange for complimentary high-speed fiber broadband service at the fire department.

This will help more of our neighbors gain access to vital internet services,” said Dean Ronca, Fire Chief of Rotterdam District 2. “Greenlight has a great reputation for being both affordable and reliable. Rotterdam residents can now visit Greenlight’s Neighborhood Page to learn more about the company’s construction progress and service availability. Residents are encouraged to sign-up to express interest. Once construction is completed in their neighborhood, customers that pre-ordered services will be notified to schedule in-home installation by a Greenlight Networks’ fiber technician.

Along with access to multi-gigabit fiber services, the expansion will also provide Rotterdam residents with access to Greenlight’s Total Managed Wi-Fi. The fully managed service launched last fall and allows Greenlight’s customers the ability to wirelessly connect devices throughout their home through the use of a professionally designed, implemented and supported wireless network service. Greenlight’s team monitors the home network remotely for added peace of mind. Customers can add Total Managed Wi-Fi to Greenlight’s affordably priced internet services for as little as $5 per month.

All of Greenlight’s internet services – including the new 5 Gig service – are symmetrical, which means the upload and download speeds are the same. More than 27 municipalities across the state now have access to Greenlight’s network, including communities in Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton and the Hudson Valley region. The addition of Rotterdam will further fuel Greenlight’s growing presence in the Capital region as more than 5,000 households in Clifton Park and Malta now have access.
