Greenlight Networks Connects with Baltimore City Residents at Digital Equity Town Hall on Internet Access

On Saturday, June 13, Greenlight Networks joined the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition and the City of Baltimore’s Office of Broadband and Digital Equity at Open Works in the Greenmount West neighborhood for a community town hall focused on internet access, affordability, and the future of connectivity in Baltimore.

The event brought together residents from across Baltimore City alongside four internet service providers for an open, transparent conversation about broadband options, infrastructure, and what’s next for connectivity in local neighborhoods.

Bringing Fiber Internet to Baltimore Neighborhoods

During the town hall, the Greenlight Networks team shared a comprehensive look at our fiber-to-the-home internet service and what it means for Baltimore residents and small businesses. We walked attendees through:

  • Who we are and why we’re expanding into Baltimore

  • What fiber internet is and how it differs from traditional cable or DSL

  • Available speeds, pricing, and services designed to meet modern household and business needs

  • Our commitment to customer experience and community engagement

As a local provider in Baltimore focused exclusively on 100% fiber optic internet, Greenlight is uniquely positioned to deliver faster speeds, more reliable connections, and a service model centered entirely on fiber performance and customer satisfaction.

The discussion, moderated by Chris Ritzo, Co-Chair of the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition, gave residents the opportunity to hear directly from multiple providers and compare offerings side by side – an important step in building transparency and trust in the broadband marketplace.

Listening to Baltimore Residents: Real Conversations About Access and Equity

The conversation quickly evolved into a meaningful Q&A, with residents asking thoughtful, often urgent questions about:

  • Fiber network construction timelines in specific Baltimore neighborhoods

  • How areas are selected for expansion

  • Installation processes and expectations

  • Pricing transparency and affordability

  • Longstanding gaps in high-speed internet access across the city

Residents shared personal stories and their perspectives highlighted the real impact of the digital divide in Baltimore and underscored why access to reliable, affordable internet is essential for economic opportunity, education, and daily life.

For our team, these conversations reinforced the purpose behind our work: to expand access, introduce meaningful options for residents, and help raise the standard of internet service across Baltimore City.

Building Local Relationships

Beyond the formal discussion, Greenlight team members connected one-on-one with residents and neighborhood representatives from across Baltimore.

These conversations focused on:

  • Local outreach strategies to keep residents informed

  • How to ensure communities are prepared for upcoming fiber availability by checking serviceability by entering their address on our website.

  • Building excitement and awareness around new broadband options

  • Partnering with community leaders to support adoption, education, and access

Engaging directly with residents at the neighborhood level is central to how Greenlight approaches expansion, ensuring that communities are not only served, but actively included in the process.

Strengthening Greenlight’s Presence in Baltimore

Participation in events like the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition town hall reflects Greenlight Networks’ growing commitment to Baltimore and its communities. As we expand our fiber network across the city, we remain focused on:

  • Delivering fast, reliable fiber internet

  • Supporting digital equity and inclusion efforts

  • Building strong local partnerships

  • Showing up in communities to listen, engage, and respond

The energy, honesty, and passion from Baltimore residents made this event especially impactful – and we’re excited to continue the conversation as we bring more fiber connectivity to neighborhoods across the city.
