Greenlight Networks Starts Construction to 3,900 Additional Households; Construction Complete and Service Now Available to 1,800 More Households

Rochester, NY- July 16, 2019 – Greenlight Networks, the fastest fiber-to-the-home provider in New York State, announced today that it has started construction to expand its high-speed fiber-optic network to six additional Greenlight Districts spanning 3,900 households in parts of Greece, Irondequoit and Rochester. Construction is underway in the Greece Hampton/Latta, Greece Dorsey, Irondequoit Nowadoga, Irondequoit Kindlewood, Irondequoit Oakgrove and Rochester Navarre Greenlight districts (map attached).

Greenlight is building a fiber-to-the-home network which provides access to Internet speeds up to 2 Gigabits per second (Gbps), the fastest in the area. Building Greenlight’s fiber network involves significant design, planning and construction work to install new fiber-optic cable, which supports much higher data transmission speeds than traditional networks.

“We are investing a lot in these communities when we build out fiber. Each new neighborhood network build is a massive construction effort requiring us to lay fiber down every street where service will be offered as well to each customer’s home or business,” explained Mark Murphy, President & CEO of Greenlight Networks. “While it’s a labor-intensive process, the result is well worth it. Customers experience a quantum leap in broadband internet speeds and capacity. It’s amazing technology and although the build process is arduous, we are working hard to connect more and more homes directly to our fiber network every day.”

Greenlight also announced today that it has completed construction in parts of Brighton, Gates, Irondequoit, Rochester and Webster. As a result, the company’s high-speed Internet service is now available to 1,800 additional residences in those areas. Greenlight is currently installing service to homes in the Brighton Sutton, Gates Ford, Irondequoit Maywood, Irondequoit Lakeview, Rochester Maxson, Rochester Woodstock and Webster Weaver districts.

“Greenlight is proud to provide these residents a faster, more cost-effective Internet alternative. What differentiates Greenlight from other providers is our ability to offer customers direct access to 100 percent fiber connectivity, without any additional fees, taxes or contracts,” added Murphy.

New Interactive Map

A new interactive map on the Greenlight Network’s website now visually depicts the status of Greenlight’s Internet service availability across Monroe County. Launched in late June, the new map highlights the geographic outline of each district, shows the streets and homes within each and is searchable by address. Districts are color-coded to show order progress, construction status, service availability, and highlights new construction areas as well as upcoming Greenlight events.
