Fiber company partners with Vischer Ferry Fire Department for Network Hub, Commits to two-year construction project

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (Dec 21, 2022) – Greenlight Networks (“Greenlight”), the leading fiber-to-the-home provider in New York State, announced today that it is further expanding its sought-after fiber optic Internet network throughout the town of Clifton Park, with gigabit Internet services available to nearly 12,000 homes by year-end 2024. The company has committed to investing more than $16 million in infrastructure development within the town, with plans to create local jobs and work for local contractors in the process.

After announcing its first expansion into Clifton Park, Greenlight’s network is available to homes in the Azalea and El Dorado neighborhoods. Further construction within those neighborhoods is expected to be completed by early 2023 and will extend the network to nearly 2,000 additional households. Greenlight will then begin construction into the neighborhoods of Summerlin, Roosevelt and Bruno, as well as several smaller neighborhoods to connect nearly 10,000 more homes in 2024. Residents in these areas are encouraged to place pre-orders.

“Working with the town of Clifton Park this past year has been very productive. We’ve built a great partnership, not only from a respect standpoint but from a communications perspective. Together, we are working to ensure more Clifton Park residents gain access to our high-speed fiber Internet services,” said Mark Murphy, President and CEO of Greenlight. “Connecting residents to multi-gigabit fiber Internet will be a game-changer for individuals and families looking for alternative options for reliable and affordable Internet services. We’re excited to welcome new customers and look forward to building our presence here in Clifton Park.”

Senator Jim Tedisco added, “The expansion of Greenlight Networks will provide more residents of Clifton Park with another option for high-speed Internet service that’s so vital for residents to do business, education for children, and streaming the content they want. This is good news for consumers in Clifton Park.”

“The partnership between Greenlight Networks and the Town of Clifton Park is a great step forward in providing residents with high-speed Internet,” said Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh. “Clifton Park continues to be one of the fastest growing towns in the region and whether you’re a lifelong resident or a new homeowner in the area, we know now more than ever that access to affordable and reliable Internet is imperative.”

“We welcomed Greenlight to Clifton Park last year as the company unveiled plans to expand their service into the Capital Region, said Phil Barrett, Clifton Park Town Supervisor, “Greenlight is making a significant investment in Clifton Park as the company installs a new fiber network, which will be available to thousands of homes. The investment brings more value to Clifton Park and another option for people who use this service in their homes every day.”

Residents in the town of Clifton Park will start to see Greenlight Networks trucks, as well as those of its sub-contractors, as construction activities expand throughout the community. Greenlight has partnered with the Vischer Ferry Fire Department to host its network equipment in exchange for complimentary high-speed fiber broadband service at the fire department.

Greenlight’s fiber-optic network will deliver data speeds as high as 2 Gbps upload and download, with a base speed of 500 Mbps upload and download for $50 per month. Greenlight’s Internet service is five times faster and 25 percent less expensive than the incumbent cable provider, with no contracts, taxes, or hidden fees. Fiber internet provides the best possible online experience for gaming or streaming high-quality video and supports simultaneous high-speed connections across multiple devices.

Clifton Park residents can visit Greenlight’s Capital Region Neighborhood Status Page to learn more about Greenlight’s progress in their neighborhood and sign-up to express interest and for construction updates. Once construction is completed, customers that pre-ordered services will be notified to schedule in-home installation by a Greenlight Networks’ fiber technician.
