We have created a variety of tools and resources for you to help educate your community on Greenlight Networks.
New York State has also rolled out a broadband assessment survey to help with better understanding the issues relating to broadband availability across the State. For more information and to participate in this survey please visit www.empirestatebroadband.com.
The map shows the order progress, construction status and service availability of Greenlight Districts. Here’s what each status level represents:
Serviceable – Our network is built and service is available in the Greenlight District!
Construction in Progress – Our construction team is active in the Greenlight District. You may still place an order for service, but installation may be delayed.
2021 Construction –We have announced our construction schedule through the first half of 2020 and your district is on the list! Our team is actively working to obtain needed permissions from private residents, known as easements, in order to start construction in 2020. To provide an easement, please email email@example.com. We do not have an exact date of when construction will begin, but we will email you again when construction begins in your district.
Accepting Pre-Orders – We are accepting pre-orders in your district. We are currently evaluating the network design and engineering specifications, construction costs, and conditions, as well as permits and easement requirements for your district.
Easements Required – In many cases where underground construction is required, we need to get permission in the form of an easement to cross a property to access utility poles. Without an easement, there may be some blocks in a Greenlight District that we cannot complete during our construction phase. This is the primary reason we need to create multiple phases and expansion Greenlight Districts. If you are interested in providing an easement for your property, please fill out this form. If you have any questions regarding easements for your neighborhood, please check out the easements page on our website here or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pre-Construction– Our engineering team is designing the network, acquiring access from the utility pole owners, preparing space on the utility poles for our fiber, and obtaining required easements from homeowners.
Under Evaluation-We are currently evaluating the network design and engineering specifications, construction costs and conditions, as well as permits and easement requirements for your district.
Does your Greenlight District require easements? An easement is a document that gives Greenlight Networks permission to do underground work on a homeowner’s property. This is required when we are not able to cross the street to connect our fiber to the utility poles. If you are interested in providing an easement for your property, please fill out this form. If you have any questions regarding easements for your neighborhood, please email email@example.com.
Don’t see us in your neighborhood yet? We are just waiting to see more interest before we can start accepting orders! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to become a community advocate and help Greenlight bring service to your neighborhood. If your neighborhood is interested in having a Greenlight team member attend a neighborhood meeting or event, please fill out this form.
Greenlight was founded in 2011 when we provided Internet service to the Erie Harbor Apartments. We built our first fiber-optic network to a Greenlight district in the village of Pittsford in 2012. Since then, we’ve connected tens of thousands of customers to our ultra-fast Internet service, and we’ve given the Rochester community a world class Internet experience and the #11 ranking in the nation for places to live for Gigabit Internet service. We currently offer service to XX homes in XX Greenlight districts across 12 municipalities in the Greater Rochester area. Greenlight was awarded Rochester’s Best Internet Service Provider in 2017 & 2018 by the Rochester Business Journal’s Readers Ranking. Greenlight Networks was recognized by BroadbandNow as the #1 Fastest Internet and the #1 Fastest Fiber Provider in New York State. By building fiber directly to our customers’ homes, we offer Internet connections from 500 Megabits per second up to TWO Gigabits per second over our all fiber-optic network. We are proud to be Connecting our Communities by delivering the Best Internet Experience and providing our Customers the Freedom to Work, Play and Live without Limits.Awaiting Municipal Approval– The City of Rochester has implemented a new Telecommunications Code which imposes additional, and significant, non-cost-based fees and processes for providers like Greenlight to access the public right-of-way necessary to build our fiber optic network. Unfortunately, this has brought on litigation from another telecommunications carrier, and until the litigation is resolved, it is unlikely that we will be expanding our network in the city.
